Dust-Me Selector gives web developers the chance to get rid of the CSS selectors that aren’t being used. It does this by offerings three different functions. First, it can scan HTML pages to let users know what CSS is being used on a particular page. It does this by getting the details of selectors and style sheets and separating those that are being used from those that are not. Second, it gives developers the chance to spider HTML and XML sitemaps. In doing so, it checks the stylesheets of each page against the DOM of pages that include them. From this, users will gain an understanding of the selector use across the entire site. Finally, it can scan pages while the user browses, picking up dynamic content that is undetectable by spiders.
The extension offers keyboard shortcuts and access keys for each of its functions to enable users to conduct all of their desired operations without using a mouse. Although the default interface is intuitive, users wishing to alter it to suit their individual preferences can do so. The add-on works quickly, processing as many as five pages per second. It can be used with any type of stylesheet up to and including CSS3.
